On July 31, 2026, the idyllic Grünwaldsee on the Hochalm in Obertauern will once again host a truly special natural spectacle for the 6th time. During this atmospheric Full Moon Swimming event, the magical power of the full moon meets the refreshing and purifying effect of crystal-clear mountain water – creating a unique experience in the heart of the alpine landscape.
In the middle of the natural mountain lake, a large illuminated full moon will be placed, serving as a guiding point for brave participants. Those who dare to face the initial chill will swim – accompanied and supervised by experienced cold-water professionals – around the glowing “moon”. Afterwards, comfortably heated hot tubs on the lakeshore provide warmth and relaxation.
The Full Moon Swimming experience is not only about the extraordinary atmosphere in nature. The proven health benefits of cold-water swimming also make this special event an unforgettable summer highlight in Obertauern.

ℹ️ Registration and information are available at the Obertauern tent located directly next to the Hochalm.
🧖 After the swim, every participant has the opportunity to use the sauna and the hot tub. Changing facilities are available on site.
🩱 For last-minute participants, the Skiworld sports shop will be available on site with swimwear and accessories.
🛟 Safety Concept
The swim is conducted in groups and is not a timed competition.
Each participant receives glow sticks to wear on their wrist and an illuminated swim buoy that is pulled behind them in the water.
In addition, the event is supervised and secured by the Austrian Water Rescue, Altenmarkt local branch, as well as the Dr. Aufmesser Medical Team, ensuring the highest possible level of safety for all participants.

Arrival & Transfer
🚠 Free Lift Shuttle to the Event
A free transfer with the Grünwaldkopfbahn cable car is available for all participating guests. The lift provides a comfortable and safe ride to the event area at Grünwaldsee near the Hochalm in Obertauern.
🕔 The lift shuttle service operates from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
🅿️ Parking is available at the valley stations of the Grünwaldkopfbahn, Zehnerkarbahn and Sonnenliftbahn. From there, guests can conveniently access the event area by cable car.
⚠️ Please note that access to the event area by private car is not permitted. We therefore recommend using the designated parking areas and the Grünwaldkopfbahn lift service.
THE MAGIC POWER OF THE FULL MOON
Of course, the magical power of the full moon and the "cleansing" effect of the fresh water in every respect is most effective when swimming in normal swimwear. So, if you are healthy, confident, and want to feel this "kick" particularly intensively, you should swim "in pure form". Participants who are particularly sensitive to the cold are also free to swim with a warming neoprene suit. We would like to expressly point out that participants join this event at their own risk and the organiser accepts no liability for damage or possible consequential damage.
